Report of Investigations
an erasure poem
Report of Investigations
Ocean
is boundary,
is potential observed,
is distant-sourced hazard
for this short-term scenario.
Maximum fault.
Any distance felt
is critical
in this present,
this single inundation
and arrival.
Text from the Introduction to the Washington State Department of Natural Resources report, Tsunami Inundation, Current Speeds, and Arrival Times Simulated from an Mw 9.2 Alaska-Aleutian Subduction Zone (AASZ) Earthquake Scenario for Coastal Washington which details current tsunami modeling results for all of coastal Washington, including Copalis Beach where I was vacationing last week.
To see the full text, the report can be found here.
In addition to the WA state DNR, I want to thank LeeAnn Pickrell who also inspired this poem with the recent release of her memoir, Tsunami.
Thank you for reading.
