First, thank you to everyone who joined me for the first Stirred Zoirée! I enjoyed the discussion on ways to approach January, and what you’ve been noticing out there in your particular part of the world. Look for our next Stirred Zoirée to take place in April where I hope even more of you will be able to join.
2024 will bring in The Year of the Dragon (though, we should really call it, “A” Year of the Dragon since these dragons visit us every twelve years.) I know there’s a lot of trepidation out there for where this year might take us as a nation and a world, but I’m holding out hope that this Dragon of 2024 lives up to its reputation for bringing nobleness, honor, luck and success.
In honor of dragons, I will be periodically highlighting one of my favorite plants in my front yard, the Red Dragon Hazelnut (Corylus avellana.) This shrub is spectacular all year long. Right now, its twisting branch structure is on full display, with the new purple leaf buds just starting to show.
And the dragon love does not end there! In addition to posting portraits of this dazzler of a filbert, I am offering new subscribers 20% off the annual cost of a subscription from now through the start of Lunar New Year, February 10th. Even if the transfer of power between rabbits, dragons, and snakes means nothing to you, I appreciate your support and would love to share everything that Stirred has to offer this coming year.
