A new poem this week. But first, a photo taken while building Phase 2 of The Champagne Trail.
What is your favorite found object? Have you discovered anything this summer that has inspired you?
Me: I finally downloaded the Merlin app from Cornell which has helped me identify so many birds, simply by their calls. Pretty amazing. “Shazam for birds,” as my beloved it called it. Yes.
Chordata
The pit and weep of a thrush, above me, on a Sunday’s descent down the other side of noon. It is never enough – these summer days. I won’t ever know enough of them. I won’t ever be covered enough by a maple’s new, knuckled limbs that loosen (just a little), while holding the weight of a delicate architect, olive-backed and bereft of nothing. 06.23.2023
Lastly, I miss the rain a little. Here’s a video from one of the last days it rained here, back in June. If you enjoy bird calls, turn up the volume when watching.
